Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to be inclusive and adaptable, ensuring that all learners feel valued, respected, and empowered. It is built on the belief that every idea, thought, and contribution matters. We strive to create a learning environment where all pupils see themselves reflected in what they study, while also broadening their perspectives and sparking their curiosity.

At the heart of our curriculum is a commitment to fostering a sense of wonder. It encourages pupils to question, reflect, think critically, and explore the world around them. We place a strong emphasis on gratitude - gratitude for the opportunities we have, for the knowledge we can gain, and for the natural world that surrounds us, particularly our local environment.

Our curriculum is designed to open doors to a future full of possibilities linked with our vision, 'With God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26)'. It builds on what pupils already know, stretching their learning and challenging them to reach their true potential. By nurturing curiosity, critical thinking, and a sense of belonging, we aim to empower all our pupils to thrive, both in school and beyond.

Our curriculum is at its most effective when it is strongly linked with our four core Christian values:

LOVE: Our school curriculum is driven by the value of love, fostering an environment where every pupil feels valued and appreciated. We aim to cultivate a deep sense of belonging, encouraging students to connect with each other and with their learning. Through a love of learning, we inspire pupils to develop a compassionate and respectful attitude towards their peers, their work, and the world around them. Our curriculum nurtures empathy, encouraging students to consider different perspectives, embrace alternative narratives, and broaden their understanding of global issues. We also emphasise the importance of good habits, both in relationships and in work, and promote a spirit of service and kindness. Ultimately, our curriculum is designed to help pupils grow not only academically but also as compassionate, thoughtful, and aware individuals.

THANKFULNESS: Our school curriculum is deeply rooted in the value of thankfulness, encouraging pupils to develop a mindful and thoughtful approach to their learning and interactions. We foster an attitude of gratitude by teaching our pupils to respond positively, especially in challenging moments, and to dig deeper to find solutions. This perspective of thankfulness extends to an awareness of the resources and equipment available to them, inspiring respect and responsible use. Through mindfulness, we help students cultivate a sense of appreciation for what they have - both in terms of material resources and the opportunities for learning and growth. In all aspects of our curriculum, we strive to instil a spirit of thankfulness that shapes not only their academic journey but also their outlook on life.

COURAGE: Our school curriculum is driven by the value of courage, inspiring pupils to recognise when they need support and empowering them to reveal their potential and talents. We encourage our pupils to let their light shine, try new things, and embrace the challenges of learning with a growth mindset. Understanding that courage looks different for everyone, we foster a safe environment where pupils feel confident to make mistakes, seek help when needed, and develop resilience. We celebrate the power of the word ‘yet’, knowing that perseverance leads to growth. Courage is also about standing up for what is right, and we support our pupils in developing the strength to stand firm against adversity. Above all, we help them acknowledge their fears, face them with confidence, and take pride in their achievements, knowing that each step forward is an act of courage.

WONDER: Our school curriculum is driven by the value of wonder, fostering an openness to new learning and a sense of amazement in the world around us. We encourage pupils to be curious, intrinsically motivated, and eager to explore new ideas, both within and beyond their immediate interests. By promoting an appreciation of diversity and different cultures, we help our pupils find wonder not only in what excites them, but in all areas of learning. Our curriculum encourages pupils to make connections, ask pertinent questions, and seek out links between different subjects and ideas. We value critical thinking, challenging pupils to dig deeper and question what they have been told, fostering a sense of intellectual curiosity and a lifelong love of discovery. Through this approach, we aim to instil a sense of wonder that inspires us all to continually seek knowledge and share our learning with others.
